Michael Borsz joined the Wells
College athletic department as its Director of Athletics in October
of 2011. Within his role, Borsz is responsible for the planning,
leadership and operational management for all 16 of the Express'
NCAA Division III varsity athletic programs. Additionally, he is
responsible for the oversight of the Wells College Physical
Education Department, intramural and recreation programs.
Prior to joining the Express, Borsz worked in several roles at The
Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Most recently,
he served for three years as the Assistant Athletics Director and
Recruiting Coordinator where he was responsible for coordinating
the recruiting efforts for all 21 NCAA Division III varsity
programs. He also acted as the athletics liaison for several
departments on campus, including admissions, financial aid,
provost, business, campus housing, orientation, first year
experience and study abroad.
He also represented the Cardinals as a member of several
committees, including the Academic Probation Appeals committee, the
Global Education committee and the university's First Year
Retention Experience program.
Alongside his recruiting responsibilities, Borsz also managed all
facilities for varsity, club and intramural sports and provided
game management for several sports and events, including DC Special
Olympics and the NCAA Women's Lacrosse First Round Tournament.
Borsz also assisted in the marketing of football games and was
directly responsible for all aspects of the department’s
annual alumni golf tournament fundraiser.
Borsz joined Catholic in July of 2006, serving as both an
admissions counselor and an assistant lacrosse coach before his
promotion to Assistant Athletics Director in 2008. Maintaining his
position with the Cardinals men's lacrosse program, Borsz coached
both the defensive corps and goaltenders, helping to lead the
Cardinals to a program best 12-4 record in 2010.
Prior to Catholic, Borsz served as assistant lacrosse coach at
Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. and also spent time in England
as a part of the Hitchin Lacrosse Development Program.
Borsz holds his B.A. in Sociology from Hobart College in Geneva,
N.Y. where he was a four-year member of the men’s lacrosse
team and an M.A. in Education Administration from The Catholic
University of America. Borsz is a native of Camillus, N.Y. where he
attended West Genesee High School.
He currently resides in Syracuse, N.Y. with his wife
Karen and daughter Adelyn.
