KINGSTON, N.Y. – John Iapoce '11 and Charles Naula '15, formerly of the Wells College men's soccer team, have earned roster spots on the Kingston Stockade Football Club, preparing for its inaugural season in the semi-pro National Premier Soccer League. The NPSL is the fourth division of the United States soccer pyramid.
The newly-formed club is based in Kingston, N.Y. and will compete at Dietz Stadium from May 2016 to July 2016. Iapoce and Naula join a roster comprised of former NCAA Division I, II and III student-athletes. The team recently took the field against Albany FC on Apr. 7 and Iapoce was substituted at the start of the second half.
A team captain in 2010, Iapoce appeared in a team-record 71 games for the Express during a four-year career. Scoring eight goals and adding three assists for 19 total points (8-3=19), Iapoce is tied for eighth all-time in point scoring and his eight career goals also rank him eighth in team history. Additionally, his four career game-winning goals are tied for third in program history.
His team's Rookie of the Year award winner in 2011, Naula would make 64 appearances for the Express during his four-season career. As a senior, Naula would earn his team's Most Valuable Player award after serving as a team captain. With eight career assists, he ranks third all-time in team history and has also started the 10th-most games (57) for the Express.
