Jackie Schnurr, Associate Professor of Biology and Environmental Science, started at Wells College in the Fall of 2004 and became the Faculty Athletics Representative in 2007. In addition to her on-campus responsibilities, she has previously served as the North Eastern Athletic Conference FAR from 2010 to 2012.
She also convenes the Athletic Advisory Board, which includes the Director of Athletics, several other faculty and SAAC representatives as members. This panel brings together constituents across campus with the goal of improving the student-athlete experience.
Despite not playing a varsity sport in college, Schnurr started playing soccer when she was five and started several women’s soccer teams - one at Rhinebeck High School in Rhinebeck, N.Y. and one at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Id. She has also played field hockey and lacrosse, as well as intramural volleyball, basketball, softball and ultimate Frisbee.
Schnurr received her Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from Cornell University in 1994 and her PhD in Biology from Idaho State University in 2000. She has lectured at Sheldon Jackson College, a small College in Sitka, Ark. before coming to Wells.
A running enthusiast, Schnurr recently completed her first half-marathon. She currently resides in Moravia, N.Y. with her husband, Brian Hough, and son Ben.
